March 1, 2020 - Ready for another month? The sunset tonight was stunning! I'm all in. (I actually wrote that. Little did I know what this month would bring. Ignorance is bliss. We were still able to work, go to restaurants, be with friends outside of our home, etc. Life was normal. A lot can happen in just a few days.}
March 3, 2020 - "For created light, we thank thee, while thine ordered seasons run. Alleluia, Alleluia, Praise to the who light does send." - Martin Franzmann
March 5, 2020 - It was a pretty windy day today. My goal was to capture the wind as best as I could. For our little lake, these were decent sized waves.
March 6, 2020- A much calmer day than yesterday. The waves had a gentle, rhythmic pattern to them that was much more calmer and peaceful than yesterday.
March 7, 2020 - It was a gorgeous Saturday. I loved getting a closer peek at the different layers of feathers on this goose. Did you know that they sell pillows made out of Canadian Goose down feathers?
March 8, 2020 - "The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things." - Henry Ward Beecher
March 9, 2020 - Rain! I stayed in my car for this photo.
March 10, 2020 - This evening was so beautiful and serene. The clouds helped make it a sensational sunset. God's astounding artwork on tour.
March 11, 2020 - Two big piles of sand were delivered to the beach today. Getting things ready for summer.
Psalm 107: 28-31 "Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper, the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm and it guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind."
March 13, 2020 - A Friday the 13th to remember. Wave after wave of bad news hit our screens. We heard of more cases of Coronavirus, mandated school closings, quarantines, a run on toilet paper, empty shelves at stores, etc. This picture of the continuous waves rolling in speaks to me of what this day was like for all of us. It was certainly a day for the history books.
March 14, 2020 - The lake was quiet and calm. The waves are gone, the water is so clear that you can see straight down to the bottom. This was taken through the water. Sometimes after the waves settle, things become more clear. Today, I think of all the people around me. Each struggling in their own way with how our world changed overnight. Hard times often reveal our true colors. This picture reminds me to remember that we all deal with storms in our own unique way. Let's have patience for one another and when the waves are so strong that we don't see what's underneath, let's not forget to see the people around us and how they are hurting.
March 15, 2020 - While most of us are entering a season of hibernation due to COVID-19, look who just came out of hibernation and posed for a spring photoshoot at the beach. I called him the Bloomfield Bullfrog. It was fun to find him. Especially such a strange Sunday. Our church held online worship for the first time to help protect everyone from the spread of the Coronavirus. It is a blessing to have the technology we do have, but it really just isn't the same as getting together with everyone. This is going to take some getting used to.
The term "Social Distancing" has now become a common, household term that we never used before but desperately needed in these days to help stop the spread of this silent killer.
March 17, 2020 - Happy Saint Patrick's Day! The red-winged blackbirds were happily singing their unique tune today. Most of Wisconsin sat stunned as Governor Evers mandated the closing of all dine-in establishments. So much for everyone's Saint Patrick's Day plans. It was probably one of the most disappointing Saint Patrick's Day for many, many people and restaurants. Many still provided carry-out as they had already made all the corned beef and cabbage.
March 18, 2020 - Ok, this COVID-19, social distancing, quarantine, businesses closing, weddings getting canceled, jobs lost, colleges and schools closed, friends suffering, world news and a whole host of other bad news is getting to me. Today, I felt like I was being swallowed alive by bad news. I haven't lost hope, but let's be real - I don't think our bodies were designed to take on this much bad news as we've all consumed this last week. I was going to give up my daily pictures at the lake because it all seems trivial in light of all that's going on. I almost feel guilty looking for joy when so many people around me are hurting. My husband insisted on taking me to the lake today. We found a muskrat, busy as can be, swimming back and forth in the lake. It made me smile and laugh and we chased it up and down the shoreline of the lake. For a brief moment, we had joy and a momentary loss of all the bad. Nature does that to you. It reminds you that there is still good in the world. I hope for at least one second, this little muskrat can bring a smile to your face. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all as you navigate through these waters.
March 19, 2020 -
"Sometimes we come to life's crossroads
And we view what we think is the end.
But God has a much wider vision
And he knows that it's only a bend.
The road will go on and get smoother
And after we've stopped for a rest,
The path that lies hidden beyond us
Is often the path that is best.
So rest and relax and grow stronger,
Let go and let God share your load
And have faith in a brighter tomorrow-
You've just come to a bend in the road."
BONUS PICTURE: I didn't take this on Pell Lake, but just off Pell Lake Drive on County Highway U, headed toward Genoa City. I was happy to find these sandhill cranes with a beautiful reflection and wanted to share them with you all.
March 23, 2020 - I asked my friends on social media, if they could sit next to someone on this bench and talk right now, who would it be with? The answers ranged from friends, spouses, deceased parents, great-great-grandfather, etc, Enjoy each moment you have with those around you. Time is not guaranteed. Who would you like to sit with?
March 24, 2020 - Social distancing out on the lake today. Look at that happy smile.
March 25, 2020 - First time out fishing this year. Didn't catch anything but had fun casting.
March 26, 2020 - Another day that I was feeling down and not sure if I should continue my walks to the lake. My husband is a good man and just won't let me quit on something when I am second-guessing myself. I was so encouraged by finding this awesome wood carving that someone put down by the lake. The creative artistry reminded me that I don't just do my art for myself but to hopefully bring a smile to someone else's face just like this wonderful carving did for me today. Whoever made this and put it by the lake, thank you! It is absolutely gorgeous!
Then I saw...
A loon and ...
A Horned Grebe couple that stopped at our lake on their migration journey. What fun!
So glad my husband convinced me to continue.
March 27, 2020 - Such clear, still water today.
March 28, 2020 -
"This is my Father's world.
O let me never forget
That though the wrong
Seems oft so strong
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world.
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King
Let the heavens sing!
God reigns,
Let the heart be glad!"
"I'm reaching out,
I'll chase you down
Come on I dare you to believe
How much I love you,
O, I love you.
Don't be afraid,
Know that I am your strength
We'll be walking on the water,
Dancing on the waves."
-Andrew Bergthold
March 30, 2020- One of the highlights of my day today was getting to watch this loon on our lake catch a fish. It was so entertaining. I know the pics aren't the best quality because I was so far away, but that's why I am giving you the below picture that I took on the same day. The clouds today were simply stunning, making for quite the show in the evening.
March 31, 2020 - So long March! You won't be missed, but I am sure you will make it in all the future history books around the world. Let's see what April has for us.
Until next time, always choose the scenic life!
