April 1, 2020 - Welcome April!  We didn't know what this month would hold for us, but it sure started out beautiful.

April 2, 2020 - Fishermen out enjoying this beautiful day.

April 3, 2020 - My first bike ride of 2020.  Riding around the neighborhood was so good for my soul.  Seeing families out playing, gardening, fishing, riding bikes, walking, sitting around bon-fires, etc.  Yes, there is a lot of cruddy stuff happening in the world, but I only saw a whole bunch of good when I went on my ride and that filled me with hope.

April 4, 2020 - Going with this for my lake picture for today, mostly because I love the old truck.  A beautiful day out there and this made me feel nostalgic.

April 5, 2020 - As I watched tonight's sunset, the words we sang during online church this morning came to mind.
"Way maker
Miracle worker
Promise keeper
Light in the darkness
My God
That is who You are."
- Osinachi Okoro

April 6, 2020 -
"There is no problem so big, God cannot solve it
There is no mountain so tall, He cannot move it
There is no storm so dark, God cannot calm it
There is no sorrow so deep, God cannot soothe it
If He carried the weight of the world
Upon His shoulders
I know my brother, that He will carry you
If He carried the weight of the world
Upon His shoulders
I know my sister, that He will carry you."
- Scott Wesley Brown

April 7, 2020 - I kayaked around the whole lake today.  I saw so much nature.  By far, my favorite today was the 100's of painted turtles I saw.  Most of them were skiddish when I came near, but this one posed pretty proudly for a good long time.  It was 75 degrees out today.  Just gorgeous!

April 8, 2020 - Sometimes when it rains, it feels like heaven is weeping with us.  Today was a bit like that.  But the weeping brings about a sort of reflective beauty all its own that you just don't get when there are no tears.

April 9, 2020 - In Native American symbolism, seagulls represent freedom.  Today, my heart ached for freedom.  That is why, when I saw this seagull at the lake today, I knew it was an echo of everything I was feeling.

April 10, 2020 - On my walk to the lake today, I saw so many robins.  They were everywhere.  This particular one at the beach let me get very close.  I found it interesting because I remember reading that in medieval Europe, they believed the robin was a symbol of Jesus Christ because they say it bravely tried to remove the crown of thorns from His head but split it's chest on the thorns.  While I'm sure that is a fictional story, it did remind me of what this day is all about.  On this Good Friday, I am very thankful for what Jesus endured on our behalf.

April 11, 2020 - I cooked all day and by the time I got out of the house, it was raining pretty good.  I stayed in my car for today's lake picture.  Weeping may last for a night but joy comes in the morning.  Sunday is coming!

April 12, 2020 - Happy Easter from Pell Lake.  He is Risen!  He is Risen indeed.

April 13, 2020 - "For since the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities- His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." - Romans 1:20

April 14, 2020 - The lake was just full of life today.  I had to get away from the "death toll number" and the weather devastation news and the politics and just observe life for a while.  Nature did not disappoint today.  While at the lake, I saw female red-winged blackbirds, a red-necked duck couple, blue-winged teal duck couple, yellow rumped warblers, an American Coot, (pictured above) Canadian geese, and a groundhog.  It was a good nature day.

April 15, 2020 - "Oh what a tender, compassionate friend, He met the need of my heart.  Shadows dispelling, with joy I am telling, He made all the darkness depart." - John W. Paterson

April 16, 2020 - Enjoyed observing this female blue-winged teal duck as she swam among the cattails. Today, we learned that "Safer-At-Home" was extended until May 26th.  I am thankful I am still allowed to go to the lake everyday.  It gives me something to look forward to.

April 17, 2020 - Not gonna lie - today was hard.  So many people disappointed with life right now and it weighs heavy on me.  I couldn't wait to go to the lake and visit my nature friends.  I was so thrilled to find this Great Blue Heron by the channel of our lake.  Did you know that a typical Great Blue Heron's wing span is 6 feet?  Exactly the distance we are supposed to stay away from each other during social distancing.  Notice mama goose sitting on her nest in the background.  We will have goslings soon.

April 18, 2020 - A very serene sunset this evening.

April 19, 2020 - My husband and I walked around the whole lake today.  We saw sandhill cranes, hawks, robins, sparrows, blue jays, geese, new buds on trees, spring flowers, tons of turtles and lots of smiling, happy neighbors out for walks.  If we didn't know what was happening out in the world, this would rank up there as the very best kind of day.

April 20, 2020 - Look who peeked its head out today.  My first gosling sighting this year.  Reminded me of Psalm 91:4, "He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."

April 21, 2020 - Parenting during a pandemic!  No matter how hard you think life is, imagine giving birth to 14 babies at one time.  I don't know about you, but I would look a whole lot like this parent.

April 22, 2020 - A male red-necked duck with it's wings spread.  The lily pads are really starting to pop up near the marshy areas of the lake.

April 23, 2020 - Such good parents, keeping their goslings all in a row.  The one hiding by it's parents reminds me of myself.  I was always that shy, quiet, bashful child that liked to hide behind my mom's skirt.

April 24, 2020 - When life gets hard, weird and strange, just stop and sing together.  It will brighten the mood.

April 25, 2020 -
"For every evil under the usn,
There is a remedy, or there is none.
If there be one, seek till you find it.
If there be none, never mind it."
-Mother Goose

April 26, 2020 - This is one of my favorite spots on the lake.  There is always so much life happening here.  This evening, I was struck by the violet and golden sun rays pouring down on it.

April 27, 2020 - Just Another Manic Mom-Day!

April 28, 2020 - Look who else just had their babies.  I know you can't see the lake.  They were in one of the yards of someone who lives on the lake.  The lake is just behind those trees.

April 29, 2020 - A rather rainy, windy day.  Not too fun to be outside today.

April 30, 2020 - So long April!  You brought us lot's of wildlife and new babies to enjoy.  Let's see what May brings.

Drop me a comment and let me know which picture is your favorite.

Until next time, always choose the scenic life!
